The Congressional Budget Office has conducted a study and found that people earning $10,000.00 or less pay $20.00 less in taxes. They have also lost a total of $23,000,000,000.00 in benefits. People earning $80,000.00 or more pay $8,392.00 less in taxes, but they gained $35,000,000,000.00 in benefits. Low income families lost an average of $390.00 last year, but high income families gained $272.00 last year. The purchasing power and the standard of living dropped for the lowest forty percent of the population. One hundred percent of the population has less purchasing power and standard of living under this Presidential Administration. Five hundred thousand fewer families are eligible for assistance of any kind because of the deep welfare cuts in 1981. It means more hunger and malnutrition, less medical care and less assistance with utilities.
