CHAPTER 4, APRIL
Commonwealth Edison got an eleven percent rate increase starting today. No April Fool!
I have finished springcleaning the house today. Hooray!
I don't believe it, but somewhere in the Southwest a manure, power-generator plant is going to be built. It will cost $50,000,000.00 and be able to create enough energy for 30,000 homes. Wherever it is going to be built has enough manure to burn, but the residents close to the plant don't want it built. I wish that those same residents had to live here without any heat, as many of us will be doing this week. Cilco estimates that 1,500 households will be disconnected. Why isn't a small manure plant being built here. This is farm land with lots of cattle around. I wouldn't mind a little olfactory and ocular disturbance for the rest of my life, if I were guaranteed affordable heat and electricity. There's plenty of politicians who are full of shit too. Can the company build a plant in Washing ton DC and use their manure?
